Amid a complex global economic landscape, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man’s working visit to Türkiye has paved the way for important strategic directions, helping to elevate the comprehensive cooperative relationship between the two nations to a new stage of development—one that is more substantive, effective, and sustainable.
Vietnam — A Leading Regional Investment Destination
During his visit to the Republic of Türkiye, on the afternoon of April 16 (local time), National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man presided over and delivered a speech at a policy seminar aimed at fostering Vietnam-Türkiye cooperation. The event drew a large number of participants, including business associations, investors, and representatives from leading economic organizations of both countries.
In his address, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam is entering a new phase of development characterized by a stable macroeconomic foundation, an increasingly competitive investment environment, and an enhanced international standing. This is an opportune moment for foreign investors—including the Turkish business community—to establish a presence and pursue long-term growth in Vietnam. Key figures underscore the appeal of the Vietnamese market: the economy is projected to reach a scale of US$514 billion in 2025, ranking 32nd globally and 4th within ASEAN. Per capita income has reached US$5,026, marking Vietnam's official entry into the group of upper-middle-income countries. Accumulated Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) stands at approximately US$530 billion, with over US$38.4 billion in newly registered capital attracted in 2025 alone—confirming Vietnam’s position among the top 15 developing nations worldwide for FDI attraction.
An Increasingly Open and Transparent Legal Environment
A key highlight emphasized by the National Assembly Chairman to the international business community is the relentless effort by Vietnam’s National Assembly and Government to refine the legal framework for attracting investment. In the 2024–2025 period alone, the National Assembly passed numerous significant laws centered on three core reform pillars: simplifying administrative procedures, enhancing transparency, and maximizing the protection of investor rights. These measures provide robust legal assurances, instilling confidence in foreign enterprises as they decide to commit long-term capital to Vietnam. To date, Vietnam has signed 17 Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with over 60 countries and territories, including the world's largest markets. This represents a superior competitive advantage, enabling businesses investing in Vietnam to access tariff incentives and expand exports globally from a single production base.
Golden Opportunities from Vietnam–Turkey Relations
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man candidly acknowledged that, despite a relationship nurtured for nearly 50 years on a foundation of traditional friendship, two-way trade turnover reached only approximately US$2.3 billion in 2025—a modest figure relative to the true potential of these two dynamic economies. Currently, over 40 Turkish enterprises are investing in Vietnam—a number with significant potential for robust growth in the near future. This represents a window of opportunity that the business communities of both nations should proactively explore. Sectors identified as having particularly high cooperation potential include:
+ Manufacturing and processing; textiles and garments; leather and footwear—areas where Vietnam holds advantages regarding competitive production costs and a young, dynamic, and highly skilled workforce.
+ High-tech agriculture and the Halal food industry—offering vast scope for cooperation between two nations with complementary market structures.
+ Renewable energy, the green economy, and the circular economy—inevitable development trends identified as strategic priorities by both countries.
+ Digital transformation, innovation, and logistics infrastructure—new growth drivers in the technology era.
+ Tourism and people-to-people exchanges—foundations for strengthening a durable, long-term relationship.
Türkiye—a strategic bridge between Asia and Europe—combined with Vietnam—a vital gateway to the Southeast Asian and Asia-Pacific markets—creates a strategic cooperation corridor capable of fully capitalizing on the opportunities arising from the restructuring of global supply chains.
The National Assembly Stands in Partnership — The State Makes a Commitment
On behalf of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed the National Assembly's commitment to continuing its partnership with the Government in building and refining institutional frameworks and creating a stable, transparent, and favorable investment environment—thereby ensuring that the legitimate rights of foreign investors are comprehensively protected by law.
In this new phase of development, Vietnam aims to become a highly competitive hub for manufacturing, services, and innovation in Asia—moving beyond mere participation to actively play a leading role in global value chains, and advancing from simple production to design, innovation, and technological mastery.
This strategic vision represents a strong political commitment from the Party, the State, and the National Assembly of Vietnam, serving as the firmest foundation for investors to feel secure and confident in partnering with Vietnam on its journey toward prosperous and sustainable development.
