Portugal's plastic and mold manufacturing companyEcoplast has become the first business to be licensed to operate in theViMariel industrial zone, built by Viglacera Group, Vietnam.
According to a recent announcement of the management of Cuba's Mariel Special Development Zone, Ecoplast, a subsidiary of theEnpromoulds group, will build a factory to manufacture household plastic products and shape molds for plastic, paper, cardboard and rubber, with a termof 25 years in ViMariel industrial park.
In March 2018, the Cuban government granted ViMarielthe right to use a plot of land of more than 156 hectares, which was later expanded to 256 hectares, in Block A of Mariel Special Zone to build within fiveyears, an industrial park with full road, tele communications, electricity and water infrastructure serving industrial facilities and the right to use thepark for 50 years.
Launched in November 2018, ViMariel is also Cuba'sfirst time-limited concession project for a 100% foreign-owned enterprise inMariel Development Zone, which is expected to become a locomotive of Cuba'seconomy in the future.
After 6 years ofestablishment, up to now, Mariel Special Zone has attracted about 2.2 billion USDinvested in 49 projects of enterprises, mainly from Spain, Russia, Mexico,Brazil, China, Vietnam, France and Germany./.
