On July 6, within the framework of his visit to Brazil, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with leaders of leading Brazilian economic groups to promote cooperation in fields such as aviation, biofuel production, agriculture, food processing and distribution, etc.
At the meeting, Mr. Fábio Maia de Oliveira, representative of JBS - the world's leading group in the field of food processing, along with representative offices in 24 countries and territories - said that they have established two companies in Vietnam operating in the fields of frozen food distribution and leather production.
JBS has exported its first shipment of beef to Vietnam and plans to expand investment cooperation in this country. According to Mr. Fábio Maia de Oliveira, they are ready to make Vietnam a center for production and distribution of JBS’s agricultural products and food in the region and globally.
Vietnam and Brazil upgraded their relationship to Strategic Partnership in November 2024. Based on the foundation of the relationship between the two countries, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that Brazilian enterprises, including JBS Group, will continue to pay attention and expand investment and business cooperation in the Vietnamese market.
According to the Prime Minister, Vietnam's consumer market is potential with more than 100 million people and an increasing middle class. Along with that, Vietnam is ready to be a gateway for JBS to enter the ASEAN region and Northeast Asian countries such as China.
He proposed that JBS increase cooperation with domestic partners to bring the Group's products to Vietnamese and regional consumers. At the same time, he also hopes that JBS will bring Vietnamese agricultural products to the Brazilian market and their global market network. This is to make the most of Vietnam's 17 free trade agreements with more than 60 leading economies in the world.
Vietnam is promoting negotiations and moving towards signing free trade agreements with Brazil and with the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR). The Vietnamese Prime Minister asked JBS to contribute to promoting this process, thereby creating conditions for them to operate effectively, continue to expand production, as well as cooperate with Vietnamese partners to improve capacity, transfer technology...
Meeting the Prime Minister on the same day, Mr. Daniel Lopes, Vice President of FS Company, proposed strategic cooperation with Vietnam on biofuels.
FS is a pioneer enterprise in Brazil specializing in ethanol production from corn. It is also one of the leading low-carbon biofuel producers in Latin America.
The Prime Minister appreciated the initiative and goodwill of cooperation from FS. He said that Vietnam is gradually implementing the energy transition strategy and aiming for net zero emissions by 2050. The development of sustainable energy solutions in the transport sector plays an important role in achieving this goal.
The Vietnamese government leader assigned relevant agencies of Vietnam to discuss and study the establishment of an exchange and cooperation mechanism between the two governments on biofuels. Mr. Pham Minh Chinh asked FS to coordinate with Vietnamese ministries, branches, and localities to share experiences in the field of biofuel production.
At the same time, he asked FS to expand investment-business-trade cooperation in Vietnam, increase cooperation with Vietnamese enterprises, including the Vietnam National Energy Industry Group (PVN) to transfer technology, support participation in the global biofuel value chain, access E10 gasoline at suitable prices, and compete internationally.
In particular, he proposed that this enterprise conduct research and studies so that PVN can cooperate with them to invest in ethanol production in Vietnam or in Brazil.
In addition, the Prime Minister also received the leader of Granja Fujikura Company - a high-tech agricultural farm in Brazil, belonging to the Granja Fujikura system originating from Japan.
Mr. Wiliam Shuhei Fujikura, Director of Fujikura Company, said that this year, they surveyed Vietnam and are cooperating with Trong Khoi Company to develop quail farming in the Vietnamese and Asian markets. He expressed his wishes that the Vietnamese Government, ministries, and localities to create conditions for the company to cooperate effectively in Vietnam in the field of quail farming and large-scale high-tech agricultural development.
