Investment cooperation between Vietnam and Laos

The Vietnam-Laos investment cooperation has been developing continuously in recent years. Laos always ranks first among 78 countries and territories to which Vietnam invests in. Many investment projects of Vietnamese enterprises in Laos were effective and continue to increase investment capital to expand in 2022 as well as the following years. In the first 10 months of 2022, there were 25 countries and territories receiving investment from Vietnam, of which Singapore was the leading country with 75.3 million USD, accounting for 16.7% of total investment capital; Laos reached 70 million USD, accounting for 15.5%; the US received 38.2 million, accounting for 8.5%; Germany, the Netherlands, and France together reached 34.7 million USD, accounting for 7.7%. Notably, after a period of decline, Vietnam's investment in Laos is on a sustainable upward trend. In 2021, investment capital from Vietnam to Laos reached 118.3 million USD, up 33.3% compared to 2020. Many projects have been stably and effectively put into operation, contributing to socio-economic development, paying the budget, implementing social security work, creating jobs, training and enhancing skills and qualifications for workers, improving infrastructure in some localities, etc.,  In 2021, many large and important projects had been focused by Laos to remove difficulties and obstacles, creating favorable conditions to accelerate implementation such as Vung Ang Port project, Luang Prabang hydropower plant, Xekaman 3, Kali salt mine, Noong - Khang airport…/.
