Binh Phuoc Province attracts Thai investment through the Conference "Vietnam's FTAs and investment opportunities in Binh Phuoc Province" in Bangkok

On October 17, 2019, Binh Phuoc Province organized the Conference " Vietnam's FTAs and investment opportunities in Binh Phuoc Province" in Bangkok to introduce the potential and strengths of this area with Thai investors.

Attending the Conference were the Vice President in charge of trade and investment promotion of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) -  Mr. Veerachai Monsintorn, Vice Chairman of Binh Phuoc People's Committee - Mr. Huynh Anh Minh and Vietnamese Trade Counselor in Thailand - Ms. Tran Thi Thanh My as well as about 100 enterprises and investors of Binh Phuoc and Thailand.

Mr. Veerachai, FTI Vice President, affirmed that Vietnam is one of the leading countries in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) in ASEAN. He also commented that the Vietnamese Government is taking measures to attract foreign investors such as tariff preferences, infrastructure development in industrial parks in particular and the whole country in general, creating favorable conditions for businesses to start operating. In addition, Vietnam has a relatively young and highly skilled, well-trained labor force while domestic consumption is growing each year in size and purchasing power.

In addition, Vietnam's trade will grow strongly thanks to free trade agreements (FTAs) signed with many partners that will take effect next year. Mr. Veerachai emphasized that this is an opportunity for Thai businesses to exploit by setting up factories in Vietnam to export to countries  which Vietnam has trade agreements with.

With favorable geographic location and diverse transportation network, Binh Phuoc Province is one of the ideal destinations for trade and investment in southern Vietnam. This is a leading place in the Southern key economic region, connecting the Southeast and Southwest, East - Southeast Asia and reaching out to the world. In addition, Binh Phuoc Province is also the main industrial center with diversified industries such as textiles, leather, footwear, machinery, electrical and electronic equipment, wool processing and renewable energy, especially solar power.

Speaking at the Conference, Vice Chairman of Binh Phuoc Province, Mr. Huynh Anh Minh also introduced the potential and strengths of the province with eight industrial parks that have been fully invested in infrastructure and put into operation with a total area of nearly 1,200 ha; the occupancy rate is about 70% of the land area. According to the plan, by 2020, the province will have 13 industrial parks with a total area of 4,686 ha; Hoa Lu international border economic zone (bordering Cambodia with convenient transportation to connect with Laos and Thailand) covers a total area of 28,364 ha, ready to welcome domestic and foreign investors. Thereby, he called on Thai businesses to invest in areas of interest in Binh Phuoc province such as supporting industries, agriculture, hi-tech applications, agricultural processing industry ... Mr. Huynh Anh Minh also committed to create favorable conditions for production and business activities of foreign investors, especially Thai businesses.
