HO CHI MINH CITY INVESTS IN AN AI DATA CENTER IN CU CHI DISTRICT

Ho Chi Minh City is gradually promoting the development of digital infrastructure as the City's Department of Science and Technology recently signed a cooperation agreement with Accelerated Infrastructure Capital (AIC) to implement an Artificial Intelligence Data Center project in Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park, Cu Chi District.

The project is proposed with a capital scale of approximately US$2.1 billion, jointly invested and built by AIC, Kinh Bac Urban Development Corporation (KBC), and international partners. The investor has completed the application for an investment registration certificate and aims to disburse all capital by the end of the first quarter of 2027.

According to the technical plan, the data center will be developed according to international standards, focusing on energy saving and minimizing environmental impact. In the initial phase, the project is expected to put into operation a computing infrastructure system with a capacity of approximately 50 MW, equivalent to the processing power of about 28,000 GPUs, serving large-scale artificial intelligence applications.

Upon becoming operational, the center will provide computing power to businesses and international partners, while also meeting the domestic demand for AI development, including high-performance computing systems and data-intensive applications.

The project is expected to contribute to the formation of a modern data infrastructure, facilitating research, development, and application of artificial intelligence in many fields, and playing a crucial role in building an innovation ecosystem and digital economy in Ho Chi Minh City.

Leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology believe that this cooperation agreement represents a significant step forward in connecting management agencies with international investors in the high-tech sector. The city remains committed to maintaining a transparent and favorable investment environment, while improving mechanisms and policies to attract large-scale digital infrastructure projects, aiming to become a regional center for technology and artificial intelligence.

Collaborating with global technology companies also opens opportunities for Ho Chi Minh City to access advanced models in data center investment and operation, thereby enhancing its capacity to deploy high-tech projects.

Representatives from investors highly appreciated the city's proactive and effective investment promotion efforts, also, acknowledged the positive cooperation from relevant agencies. According to the investors, deploying a large-scale AI data center requires many factors such as suitable land, synchronized technical infrastructure, stable power supply, a developed technology ecosystem, along with significant capital and support mechanisms from the government...
