In the context of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Hanoi People's Committee has been encouraging enterprises to proactively and creatively adapt their industries to suit consumer tastes, as well as to divestify business partners to sell products effectively during this difficult time.
In the first five months of 2021, the activities of Hanoi businesses has been changed significantly. Total registered capital of new foreign-invested projects and increased capital projects in Hanoi in reached 519.2 million USD, according to the Statistics Department of Hanoi. Specifically, 139 new FDI projects worth 76.8 million USD were licensed in the period, while existing projects absorbed 442.4 million USD.
In May, Hanoi gave the green light to 14 wholly foreign-owned projects and two foreign joint ventures, with combined registered capital of 5.3 million USD. Meanwhile, 13 projects were submitted to increase investment capital, foreign investors has poured 184 million USD in operational projects.
2,238 new enterprises were established in Hanoi in May, increased by 8% in comparison as same periode last year, registering a total 42.3 trillion VND (1.84 billion USD) in capital, increased by 69%. However, the number of enterprises registering for dissolution and temporary suspension has increased significantly compared to the same period last year. In which, 245 firms dissolved, up by 20%, and 788 firms suspended operation, an increase of 28%, but 644 firms resumed operation, a surge of 51% in comparison as same periode last year./.
