Thua Thien Hue has a convenient trade gateway including an important traffic axis across the North-South; located on the East-West Economic Corridor connecting Vietnam with Laos, Thailand and Myanmar, is the gateway to the East Sea of this important economic corridor. Thua Thien Hue is located on the heritage road Hue - Phong Nha Ke Bang - Da Nang - Hoi An, and is the center of the Vietnam heritage road: Ha Long - Phong Nha - Hue - Hoi An - My Son - Ho Chi Minh trail.

Topographic:
Thua Thien Hue's terrain has a quite clear stepped structure.
- Mountainous terrain accounts for about 1/4 of the area, from the Vietnam - Laos border and extending to Da Nang city.
- The midland terrain accounts for about half of the area, with most elevations below 500 m, mainly characterized by wide peaks, gentle slopes and mostly bowl-shaped hills, with a width of several hundred meters.
- Thua Thien Hue Delta is typical for abrasion and accumulation plains, with sand dunes and lagoons. The delta area accounts for about 1,400 km2.

Natural resources: Land resources
The land here is quite diverse, formed from 10 different soil groups. The red-yellow soil group has the largest area with 347,431 ha, accounting for 68.7% of the total natural area.
Water resources
Underground water resources in Thua Thien Hue are quite abundant, including fresh water and hot mineral water. Seven sources of hot mineral water that can be used for drinking and medical treatment are distributed from mountainous areas, hills to coastal plains, the most notable of which are Thanh Tan, My An and A Roang.
Forest resources
Most of the mountains and forests in Thua Thien Hue are located in the west, with an altitude of 250m or more, mainly distributed in the west of the province and extending from the border of Quang Tri in the north to the border of Quang Nam province in the south. The terrain is complex, the Northern Truong Son range is of medium and low mountains with the highest peak being Ngai cave at 1,774m. The total area of the mountainous forest area accounts for about 308,825ha.
Mineral resources
Up to now, 120 mines and mineral sites with 25 types of minerals and underground water resources have been discovered in Thua Thien Hue, distributed evenly throughout. Including: non-metallic minerals; construction materials; titanium sand with a forecasted reserve of more than 7 million tons; peat with a reserve of nearly 1.7 million tons, mainly concentrated in Phong Dien area and some places such as Phu Vang, Phu Loc are resources that are assessed to have potential for serving the processing of biofertilizers; white sand is mainly concentrated in Phong Dien and Phu Vang districts with a total forecasted resource of more than 38.78 million tons.
Travel resources: The city has all types of terrain: hills, plains, rivers and lakes, creating an ideal natural - urban - cultural landscape space to organize various types of Festivals and sports tourism activities.
Hue City is an ideal location to combine unique traditional cultural resources with tourism, being one of the 5 national tourism centers. Hue is located in the center of Vietnam's world cultural heritages (Hoi An, My Son, Phong Nha-Ke Bang Cave) and close to the ancient capital cities of countries in the region.
Hue City with typical titles can be mentioned as: "Vietnam's Festival City", "Asean Cultural City", the first national green city of Vietnam voted by the World Wildlife Fund.
Notably, Hue City is the only locality in Vietnam to be recognized by the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2024 as the “ASEAN Clean Tourist City 2024”. This is the third time Hue has been honored to receive this award (2018, 2020 and 2024). Hue is also the 8th city out of the world's top 25 cultural destinations in 2024 according to the Travelers' Choice Best of the Best Destinations Award of the world's leading online travel platform Tripadvisor 2024.

+ Including National Highway 1A, Ho Chi Minh Road, North-South Expressway, coastal road through Thua Thien Hue province and synchronous connecting road system.
+ North-South Expressway section through Thua Thien Hue province is 102.4 km long. It is the driving force across the Central region, meeting transportation needs and relieving traffic volume for National Highway 1A.
+ Thua Thien Hue province is only about 100km from Da Nang International Airport - the international transit center of Central Vietnam, equivalent to 1.5 hours of driving. The two most important cities in Central Vietnam are connected by National Highway 1A with a modern road tunnel system such as Hai Van, Phu Gia and Phuoc Tuong tunnels, shortening the distance between the two cities.
+ The province is implementing the coastal road project through Thua Thien Hue province and the bridge through Thuan An estuary with the goal of forming a coastal tourist route from North to South, along the coast of Thua Thien Hue province to create conditions to promote the formation of coastal urban areas and develop the local socio-economic and tourism sectors, improve and enhance the lives of people in coastal communes in particular and Thua Thien Hue province in general.

+ With the strength of a 128km long coastline, Thua Thien Hue has Chan May deep-water seaport and Thuan An port with a rare natural depth of 9 to 14m; Chan May deep-water port is guaranteed to receive the world's largest tonnage ships.
+ Chan May deep-water seaport (National Type I port) receives ships of 70,000 tons, container ships with a capacity of up to 4,000 TEU or larger when qualified; international passenger ships up to 225,000 GT; liquid/gas cargo ships with a capacity of up to 150,000 tons or larger when qualified and in accordance with the Power Development Plan.
+ Thuan An port (local Type II port) receives ships of 3,000 - 5,000 tons.
+ Waterways have a total length of 560 km including rivers and lagoons.
- (Railway): The Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway line runs along National Highway 1A through Thua Thien Hue province with a length of 112.5 km.
- (Airway):
+ On April 28, 2023, Terminal T2 of Phu Bai Airport was put into operation with the aim of increasing the operating capacity from 1.5 million passengers/year to 5 million passengers/year (of which 4 million are domestic passengers), ensuring service for 2,500 passengers during peak hours.
+ Phu Bai International Airport is currently fulfilling its historic mission: Bringing Thua Thien Hue into deep international integration.
Power system: Currently, Thua Thien Hue province receives electricity from the National power system through the 110 kV Da Nang - Hue line (86 km length of conductor 2xACSR-185), Dong Hoi - Hue line (single circuit ACSR-185) and the 220 kV Hoa Khanh - Hue single circuit line (length 80 km, ACSR-400 conductor) through the following transformer stations: Hue 220 kV station has a capacity of 1x125 MVA voltage 220/110 kV, this station operates Operating since August 2002, built on the basis of expanding the 110 kV Hue 1 station, located in Thuy An commune - Hue City (near Ngu Binh). Hue 220 kV station receives electricity from the 500 kV transformer station through the 220 kV Da Nang - Hue line.
