Geographical location: The province is next to Tay Ninh province and Cambodia to the north, Tien Giang province to the South, Ho Chi Minh city to the East and Dong Thap to the West.

Acreage: 1,479.1

Population: 1,438,500

Topographic: This is the buffer zone between Eastern South and Western South, so that the topography has the gradual decrease in height in the North East – South West direction. In the North and North East of province, there are some hills; in the middle is flat land and the South West of province is the low-lying land area, Dong Thap Muoi which has 46,300 ha submerged Melaleuca forest

Administrative units: Include Tan An city and 13 districts: Ben Luc, Can Duoc, Can Giuoc, Chau Thanh, Duc Hoa, Duc Hue, Moc Hoa, Tan Thanh, Tan Tru, Thanh Hoa, Thu Thua, Vinh Hung, Tan Hung

Natural resources: Long An has total 435,500 ha in lan area in which the cultivated land area is 301,300 ha, forestry land area is 69,600 ha. The total forest tree resource includes 71,715 m3 eucalytus and 29.77 million cạjuput trees. Other natural resources that Long An has are coal in Tan Lap(Moc Hoa, Thanh Hoa) clay and sand for construction in Tan Thanh.

Travel resources: Many historical sites like the Oc Eo culture in Duc Hoa, Temple for Nguyen Huynh Duc in Tan An, Ton Thanh Pagoda in Can Giuoc, the Hundred collumesHouse in Can Duoc… Recently there are some projects to develop thetourism industry such as Floating village in Tan Lap, Lam Vien Thanh Nien, Lang Sen area, Melaleuca Forest resource.

Human resources: in 2010, the total labor of province was 976 million in which halfof them are skillful, 1/3 studied in professionalschool, about 4.25% are unemployed.

Traffic: The main transportways are through roads and rivers. There some national routes passingalongthe province which are National road No.1, No. 50, No.62. The river transportation system has 2,599 km in total length. Besides, the river system in the countryside, especially in Dong Thap Muoi area, people can use boats as the main transport means as well as the tool to earnmoney

Power system: 100% communes have national which provide the adequate requirement of 92.7% population. Besides, many enterprises built theirown power stations such as: Ching Luh Co., Ltd. (station capacity: 25 MVA); Formosa Taffeta Viet Nam (station capacity 10 MAV) or Vina-Chung Shing (station capacity 25 MAV).

Water system: province and every district have their water plants. Tan An water plant has capacity about 15,000 m3/day, Go Den water plant’s is 3,000 m3/day, In process Binh Anh water plant’s is 15,000 m3/day.

Post and Telecommunication Systems: All the services are available in each and every districts and communes internet services, mobilephone carriers, and post offices.

Systems Industrial Zone: Long An has 20 IZs recently which are located in Thuan Dao, Vinh Loc2, Nhut Chanh, Thach Duc, Tan Buu – Phuoc Dong, Nam Tan Lap, Bac Tan Lap, Long Hau, Tan Kim, Duc Hoa 1, Xuyen A, Duc Hoa 3, Tan Duc, West of Duc Hoai, Thai Hoa, An Nhat Tan, Tan Thanh.
