Dong Nai province is located in the Southern key economic region, with a natural area of 5,907.2 km². Dong Nai has coordinates from 10o30'03B to 11o34'57''B and from 106o45'30E to 107o35'00"E, the East borders Binh Thuan province, the West borders Binh Duong province and Ho Chi Minh City, the South borders Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the Northeast borders Lam Dong province, the Northwest borders Binh Phuoc province.
Dong Nai province is considered a gateway to the Southern key economic region - the most dynamic and developed economic region in the country. The current provincial capital of Dong Nai is Bien Hoa city which is 30 km from Ho Chi Minh City and 1,684 km from Hanoi along National Highway 1A. This is the city directly under the province with the largest population in the country, with a equivalent population size compared to two cities directly under the central government – Da Nang and Can Tho.
