Geographical location: Can Tho city is located in the central region of the Mekong Delta, on the trade axis between the Long Xuyen quadrangle, Ca Mau peninsula, Dong Thap Muoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Can Tho City share its boders with An Giang province to the north, Hau Giang province to the south, Kien Giang province to the west, Dong Thap province and Vinh Long province to the east.

Topographic: The terrain is generally relatively flat, suitable for agricultural and fishery production, with an average elevation of about 1-2 m slope from the soil along the Hau and Can Tho rivers.

Natural resources: +Land + Soil:
The soil consists of two main soil groups: the alluvial soil group accounting for 84% of the natural area and the alum soil group accounting for 16%. The soil is of good soil, low toxins and has advantages in intensive rice cultivation, upland crops and economic garden development.
+ Mineral resources:
Being a young plain, mineral resources of Can Tho are not much including clay, plastic clay, peat, construction sand. Clay for making bricks and tiles with a reserve of 16.8 million m3; flexible clay, construction sand with 70 million m3 reserve; peat with reserves of 30,000 - 150,000 tons.



Travel resources: In addition to religious monuments such as temples, pagodas, communal houses, shrines, churches, Can Tho is a beautiful city stretching 65km along the Hau River, with many unexplored natural landscapes. Can Tho cable-stayed bridge is the most beautiful bridge in the country, with a length of more than 15km, it will be crossed over the Hau River connecting Can Tho and Vinh Long province to facilitate transportation and tourism. The tourist areas of Con Au, Con Khuong, Con Cai Khe, etc. are promoting investment which will certainly enrich the eco-tourism of Can Tho.

Human resources: In 2019, Can Tho City has 72.31% of the working age population, percentage of working age population has been trained reaches 73.5% and percentage of working age population completed vocational education reaches 58%.

Traffic: * Roadway: has 06 highway through Can Tho including: Highway 1, Highway 91, Highway 80, Highway91B, etc.
* Railway: the city has 4 railway stations, the one in Saigon center is the biggest station. 
* Waterway: Can Tho has two national waterways passing through: Ho Chi Minh City - Ca Mau and Ho Chi Minh City - Kien Luong. These are the two main waterway transport routes of the Mekong Delta. In addition, Can Tho city has a rich and diverse network of rivers and canals spread throughout the area, which is convenient for the development of waterway traffic.
+ Port: has big port such as: Tra Noc Port, Hoang Dieu Port, Cai Cui Port
+ Airway: Can Tho international airport is a level 4E airport according to ICAO standards. Passenger terminal 20,750m2, designed capacity reaches 3 million passengers/year. In the near future, international routes will be opened from Can Tho to countries in ASEAN and Northeast Asia.
