Geographical location:
Bac Ninh is located in a crucial economic area in the North (Haiphong – Hanoi – Quang Ninh) and next to Hanoi. Bac Ninh is bounded by Bac Giang to the North, by Hanoi to the West, by Hung Yen and some parts of Hanoi to the South, by Hai Duong Province to the East.

Topographic:
The province has nearly flat topography. Delta areas have the popular height of 3-7m and mid-mountainous areas are mainly 300-400m high. However, mountainous areas accounted for a tiny 0.53% compared to the total area of the province. There are some low areas near dyke.
Administrative units: It is divided into 1 city (Bac Ninh city) and 7 districts: Yen Phong, Tien Du, Tu Son, Que Vo, Thuan Thanh, Luong Tai and Gia Binh.
Natural resources: The province’s total natural land area is 822.7 km2, in which agricultural land, forestry land, specialized and residential land and unused land accounts for 54%, 0.7%, 31% and 14.3% respectively. The province’s mineral reserve is limited (mainly construction materials such as clay in Que Vo and Tien Du, sandstone in Thi Cau, Vu Ninh, Bac Ninh town and peat in Yen Phong.
Travel resources: Bac Ninh is hometown of not only Kinh Duong King – the very first king of ancient Viet ethic but also eight Kings of Ly Dynasty. Human resources: In 2010, the population in working age was 693,400 people accounting for 67.01% the total population. The percentage of trained labor was 45%, of which the proportion of worker holding vocational certifications and more than that was 18.84%.
Traffic: It is convenient to travel in the province with 3 means of transportation which are roadway, waterway and railway. The province has 125km of national highways (4 national highways: 1A, 1B, 38 and 18). There are 3 large rivers (Cau, Duong, Thai Binh rivers) running through the province with 3 river ports: Dap Cau port and two specialized ones of Dap Cau and Qu Vo floating glass factories. The province has 24km of Hanoi-Lang Son railway route.
