Topographic:
Bac Lieu has a fairly flat terrain, with no major or low hills or mountains, so there are no major geological shocks. The terrain is mainly plains, interlaced with rivers and canals. The height is about 0.8 to 1.5 m above sea level. The tilt direction of the terrain is from northeast to southwest, the average tilt is from 1 to 1.5 cm/km. There are many low-lying areas in the area such as Hong Dan, Phuoc Long districts and Gia Rai town in the low-lying area of the center of Ca Mau peninsula. Coastal sand dunes create an inclined direction from the sea to the interior of the field. In the province, there are many large canals such as: Quan Lo - Phung Hiep, Canh Dien canal, Pho Sinh canal, Gia Rai canal dividing the province's terrain.
Administrative units: There is 1 city (Bac Lieu) and 6 districts (Hoa Binh, Dong Hai, Gia Rai, Hong Dan, Phuoc Long, Vinh Loi).
Natural resources: Rich and diverse natural resources with three ecosystems of salt, fresh water and brackish water have great potential for agricultural development; aquaculture, especially super-intensive shrimp farming, with high technology is a superior advantage compared to many provinces and cities.
With 56 km of coastline and a large fishing ground of about 40,000 km2, Bac Lieu has great potential for seafood fishing. Shrimp, crab and fish reserves are quite abundant, very favorable for developing fishing logistics services. The dense system of canals is connected to each other into a complete system, with many river mouths and large canals leading to the sea such as Nha Mat, Chua Phat, Cai Cung and Ganh Hao, creating conditions for socio-economic development, especially developing the marine economy, expanding international cooperation, protecting security and national defense.
The coastal area has strong and fairly stable winds (average of nearly 7 m/s) and sunshine almost all year round with over 2,900 hours of sunshine per year, average solar radiation intensity of over 5 kwh/m2/day, with great potential for investment in wind and solar power projects.
